As the flagship radio station of VRT, the public broadcaster for the Flemish community in Belgium, it needed a visual identity that reflects its evolving role in the digital age while staying true to its legacy of quality journalism and storytelling. In collaboration with VRT and Saffron Brand Consultants, Mirror Mirror developed a refined and flexible brand identity that reinforces Radio 1’s unique position in the media landscape. The result is a bold, confident, and adaptable visual system designed to thrive across all digital platforms while strengthening the connection with its listeners.

At the heart of the rebranding is a dynamic new logo—a modern interpretation of the station’s historic identity. ‘The One’ is more than just a number; it’s a statement. It signifies Radio 1’s role as the go-to source for essential stories that inform, inspire, and engage. The strong, stylized numeral ‘1’ adapts seamlessly to highlight key moments in news, sports, and culture, ensuring that the brand remains relevant in an ever-changing media landscape.


The refreshed identity aligns Radio 1 with the broader VRT family while maintaining its distinct presence. The color palette, rooted in blue-violet tones, links Radio 1 visually to VRT NWS, reinforcing the station’s credibility as a trusted source of news and analysis. A refined typography system and a flexible graphic language ensure clarity and impact across every touchpoint, from traditional radio broadcasts to podcasts, social media, and video content.


Radio 1’s audience increasingly engages with content beyond FM radio, through on-demand streaming, podcasts, and digital news formats. The new identity is designed to be digital-first, allowing for smooth adaptation across various platforms and devices.


More than a rebrand, this is a reaffirmation of Radio 1’s role in Flemish media. Confident, flexible, and unmistakably digital, it ensures that the station continues to evolve alongside the way people listen, engage, and connect with audio. Discover the new Radio 1.
